Nearly ten members of my ex-flying club have called me and asked how am I doing. We have had long talks about what happened and what is

going on there nowadays. I have been very pleased about these contacts.

Bygones - although I must admit that I was totally struck by suprise when I found out, how inbound cornered and uncivilized the darkest core

of the ex-flying club was!

I am doing fine now if there is somebody  who is interested.

My life is very harmonized and peacefull. My flying hours have declined to 40 instead about 70 in former years. Alltough flying in general has

become more expensive , my total expences have declined with diminishing flying hours. Besides - I never realized before, how

expensive for a person  it is to run a flying club. Travelling expenses for meetings and activities were huge. Mobile expenses have now been

cut to half of what they used to be. As a matter of fact I cannot  understand anymore why anyone would want to run a flying club as a volunteer.

Maybe there is a desperate need to get something to happen in one's life.

I wonder if there  will be room for flying as a hobby anywhere else either. For instance EASA is more and more becoming an all

controlling Monster. EASA's  faceless and elitistic group of clerks seem to have have no interest whatsoever for people who are flying small

type certified planes as a hobby. Yes - LSA's and LAPL's are on their way. But how do these help to keep the old and reliable Cessnas and

Pipers flying? A proper four-seat plane, that is capable of flying in rough weather day and night, still beats  all two-seat light planes in every

respect  and especially  when travelling cross-country.

I feel that because of the CAMOs and PART M's and other stuff like that it is no more interesting to keep up one's own type certified aeroplane

if you are flying as a hobby. The costs to keep a plane have also increased substantially especially if you buy the CAMO service from private

companies and can't keep the service program yourself as the owner.

I really hope that the future of aviation will be better than it seems today...
